Delivery drivers are used to getting stiffed. But one Door Dash driver became irate after receiving an $8 tip, which is, by all accounts, pretty generous.
The customer’s door camera filmed the 2021 incident which recently went viral with over one million views. It shows the driver on the customer’s doorstep yelling at him for tipping her just $8 after a 12 ½ mile trip that reportedly took her 40 minutes.
The woman stated that the man “must not realize” how far she traveled to pick the food up. She explained that she had to drive to Commack, Long Island to collect the food and then back to Smithtown to deliver it. She claimed the entire trip took her 40 minutes.
According to the customer, it should have taken her closer to 15 – 20 minutes to complete her journey.
“It’s not, you need to try and drive it. I just drove it, it’s 40 minutes. It’s 12 and a half miles,” the driver argued.
“What the h*ll are you looking for? I gave an $8 tip,” the man argued back.
The woman then threatened to return the food and begins to leave.
Many people commented on the video slamming the driver.
“As a door dash driver, an 8-dollar tip is good money. I can’t believe she took the food back,” one viewer wrote.
“As someone who used to do uber/uber eats, I find great joy when entitled drivers like this get fired,” another person stated.
“This woman has never worked for tips before. Eight dollars is a home run,” a third user chimed in.
“The fact that she felt so entitled to stand there and argue with him is fascinating. Honey, you do realize you can accept or decline delivery jobs, right? If you didn’t realize the distance, maybe you should be more observant when doing your job,” said another commenter.
The media has reached out to Door Dash for a comment but they have yet to hear anything back.
