Adam Driver Shows Solidarity with WGA and SAG-AFTRA at Ferrari Premiere

On Thursday, Adam Driver voiced his support for striking actors and writers while addressing streaming giants Netflix and Amazon for their perceived reluctance to back industry professionals and come to the table with a reasonable deal.

The 39-year-old actor is presently engaged in the promotion of his movie Ferrari at the Venice Film Festival, an event that has seen many stars abstain from participation due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Ferrari, produced independently by Neon rather than a major studio, has been granted an exemption, permitting its actors and writers to attend without infringing upon the strike. Driver commended the independent studio for their active role in negotiations with SAG-AFTRA, in stark contrast to his criticism of the larger production companies.

Driver said, “I’m very happy to be here to support this movie, and the truncated schedule that we had to shoot it and the efforts of all the incredible actors working on it and the crew.”

“And every time people from SAG go and support a movie that has met the terms of the interim agreement, it just makes it more obvious that these people are willing to support the people that they collaborate with, and the others are not,” he continued “Understanding the interim agreement, it’s a no-brainer for all of these reasons why you’d want to support your union, and I’m here because of that: to stand in solidarity with them by showing up, and further proving the point that it’s really about the people you make it with.”

His film, Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann, went on to receive a six-minute-standing ovation. The Sala Grande Theatre was packed, and all guests were on their feet to show their appreciation for the film.

Ferrari promises to be nothing short of incredible, already raking in fantastic reviews from critics and audiences alike.
