Is New York City calling your name? It’s officially time to start dreaming about leaving the heat of summer behind and planning how best to celebrate fall.

As summer winds down, New York City offers the perfect sort of charm that’s totally unique to autumn.

Here is a list of four things to keep you busy during a long autumn weekend in the city.

  1. Central Park. Does it get more gorgeous than Central Park in the fall? The trees are changing colors and it’s finally cool enough to throw on your favorite sweatshirt and hit the walking paths. Make sure to plan your trip for the end of October or beginning of November to really see all the autumn beauty the park has to offer. And be sure to stop in for the Fall Foliage Walk.
  2. Explore Some Haunted History. Changing leaves and hot chocolate not really your speed? No worries! If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, check out New York’s Eerie Ghost Tours. Get ready for 400 years worth of haunted history as your guide takes you through a handful of different haunted locations, like the homes of Aaron Burr and Mark Twain. Don’t forget Sleepy Hollow and Greenwich Village. And there’s a haunted pub crawl if you want to enjoy some spirits with your spirits.
  3. Looking to see the city from above? Then you’re in luck. NYC is full of fantastic rooftop bars with killer views. Try and snag a table at Darling (a penthouse with a funk DJ and snacks that are as yummy as their cocktails), Freehold Rooftop (a laidback outdoor bar), or Apotheke Nomad (a gorgeous hidden speakeasy) for an impeccable cocktail with a view to match.
  4. Head outside of the city for pumpkin picking. Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard has a huge pumpkin patch and apple orchard for you to choose your perfect produce. They put on tours in the fall and host events like Yoga on the Farm and Storytime with Jonathan Kruk. It’s a perfect weekend getaway to keep you and the kids entertained.
