Model Bella Hadid, sister to Gigi Hadid, said she is happy being 10 months sober! All we can say is, good for her!

Modeling and being part of the fashion industry can be one of the most stressful jobs on the planet. Countless eyes follow your every move, what you do, and where you go. That was how Bella Hadid felt, and she wasn’t alone. Just recently, a fellow model and close friend of her sister, Cara Delevingne, also came forward about her own journey with sobriety.

Bella Hadid just gave an interview talking about her own sobriety and how it has made her feel so happy and contented. Bella came forward last year about how stressful modeling can be, and she said she used to go to parties a lot to unwind and let off some steam. Soon it became a harmful routine of working during the day and partying hard at night.

She said it took a toll not just on her physical health, but also mentally. She said, “There’s just this never-ending effect of, essentially, you know, pain and stress over those few drinks that didn’t really do much, you know?”

She has been marking her journey to sobriety to inspire her followers who were struggling with alcohol too. In a previous post, she confessed that she was five months into being free from alcohol. She said it helped with her anxiety a lot. She even mentioned that she used to wake up at three in the morning feeling anxious about the most random things like what she said or did in the past. But since her decision to quit alcohol, she has been better.

Bella Hadid and Lyme Disease

Her admission to being ten months sober unfortunately drew attention back to the news that she was on medical leave in early July. People were quick to speculate that she was probably in rehab or maybe had a relapse into alcohol. This news came after she announced the end of her two-year relationship with Marc Kalman.

However, a source close to Bella Hadid came forward to debunk the rumors. In an interview with E!, the source said that Bella is on medical leave not because she is in rehab, but because she is treating her Lyme Disease.

Bella is one of the few celebrities who was open about their struggles with chronic illnesses like Lyme Disease. The model said the was diagnosed with the disease back in 2012 and would still have flare-ups to this day. Lyme Disease is a common illness that could infect humans from ticks. It doesn’t have a permanent cure, and anyone infected can have minor to severe flare-ups now and again.

The source close to the model clarified that Bella is on medical leave due to her chronic condition, and not because she has problems with substance abuse. In my opinion, Bella could really be suffering from a flare-up of her condition. Maybe the stress of breaking up with her ex, Marc Kalman after a long time of being together, and the press descending on her because of the breakup, might have triggered her symptoms.
