Billie Lourd Clears the Air on Why Carrie Fisher’s Siblings Weren’t Invited to Her Mother’s Walk of Fame Ceremony

Billi Lourd summarized her feelings and reasons for not inviting her mother, Carrie Fisher’s siblings to the late actress’ Walk of Fame ceremony, “They know why.”

Following Princess Leia’s death, the relationship between her remaining family was strained. And now it has come to this–her siblings being uninvited into her Hollywood Star ceremony.

Naturally, her siblings took the lack of invitation to heart. Todd and Joely Fisher told TMZ, “It’s heartbreaking and shocking to me that I was intentionally omitted from attending this important legacy event for my sister, Carrie.”

So, in a statement to address the situation, Billie Lourd, Carrie’s daughter, wrote that she felt hurt by her relatives’ decision to publish books that seemed to capitalize on her mother’s and grandmother’s consecutive deaths and their legacies. She said she wasn’t informed of the books and only learned through the press that they were being published. As someone closest to Carrie Fisher, she took this to heart.

Billie also said that they have no relationship whatsoever, so she took it as an insult when Todd Fisher published his book without consulting Billie, the next of kin to Carrie.

In her statement, Billie further said, “They never consulted me or considered how this would affect [sic] our relationship. The truth of my mom’s very complicated relationship with her family is only known by me and those who were actually close to her. Though I recognize they have every right to do whatever they choose, their actions were very hurtful to me at the most difficult time in my life. I chose to and still choose to deal with her loss in a much different way…The press release Todd Fisher gave to TMZ and the posting Joely Fisher placed on Instagram, once again confirms that my instincts were right.”

She ended by clearing the air, “To be clear — there is no feud. We have no relationship. This was a conscious decision on my part to break a cycle with a way of life I want no part of for myself or my children.”

Billie Lourd herself is a successful actress, notably appearing in several seasons of the hit thriller TV series, “American Horror Story.”

The Walk of Fame ceremony for Carrie Fisher was held on May the 4th, 2023. It was attended by her former co-stars including Mark Hamill, who played the role of Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher’s fictional twin brother in the cult-classic Star Wars Universe. Carrie Fisher herself had reprised her role as Princess Leia in the latest Star Wars movies during the time of her death.

Her fans were also present in the event complete with costumes of iconic Star Wars characters, which is considered to be her lifelong work. The ensemble was completed with the robots from the franchise present in the ceremony as well.
