Celine Dion’s Sister Shares Emotional Update on Star’s Health

Claudette, Céline Dion’s sister, has provided an update regarding the singer’s health as she continues to grapple with stiff-person syndrome. This rare neurological condition, characterized by severe muscle stiffness and spasms, led the 55-year-old Canadian pop sensation to postpone her 2023 Courage World Tour last December.

Claudette has now revealed the extent of the “My Heart Will Go On” singer’s commitment to her recuperation.

In a statement conveyed through Le Journal de Montreal  and translated from French, Claudette shared, “When I call and Céline is busy, I talk to my sister Linda, who lives with her, and who tells me she’s working hard.”

She added, “She listens as much as possible to the great researchers of this rare disease.”

Nonetheless, Claudette expressed her belief that what her sister requires most at this point is “profound rest.” She elaborated, “Céline always goes above everything. She always tries to be the biggest, the strongest. At some point, your little heart and your little body speak to you. It is important.”

Claudette also conveyed how Dion’s family has stood by her side throughout her journey. “We trust her. It’s in her. She’s disciplined in everything she does in her life.”

In May, Dion decided to formally cancel her 2024 Courage World Tour dates due to ongoing health apprehensions.

“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100 percent. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again,” she said in a statement.

Dion concluded optimistically, “I want you all to know I’m not giving up, and I can’t wait to see you again!”

The artist had previously deferred her 2022 Courage concert engagements due to persisting medical complexities. This decision followed a year subsequent to the initial postponement of her return to her Las Vegas residency, a move attributed to health challenges.

In statements made in June, an insider revealed that Celine Dion, who has made her residence in a lavish Las Vegas property valued at $30 million for more than 15 years, purportedly resolved to put the house on the market, driven by a desire to be in closer proximity to her family in Canada.

“Celine is in an enormous amount of pain,” a source told Radar. “She has the best medical team money can buy, but things aren’t looking good.”
