Dave Grohl recently revealed that he has a new baby from a relationship outside his 21-year marriage.
On September 10, the Foo Fighters frontman took to Instagram to announce the birth of his daughter. He openly shared that this new addition came while he was still married.
In his post, Grohl stated, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage.” He promised to be a loving and supportive parent to the child. He also expressed his deep love for his wife, Jordyn Blum, and their three children. “I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” Grohl added.
Grohl also addressed the importance of consideration for all involved. “We’re grateful for your understanding as we move forward together,” he noted. Despite his openness, Grohl’s representative had no additional comments on the matter.
Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum have been married since 2003. They share three daughters: Violet, 18; Harper, 15; and Ophelia, 10. Though Grohl generally keeps details of his personal life private, he did discuss his family’s significance in a 2009 TIME interview. At that time, he explained that his touring schedule had shifted significantly.
“I used to tour nine months out of the year,” Grohl said. “Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days.” He elaborated on how parenthood had changed his perspective. “When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting,” he said.
In 2023, Blum and Grohl made a rare joint appearance at the Grammy Awards with their daughters. The family of five posed for photos on the red carpet. Blum wore a chic, black sequined dress, while Grohl opted for an all-black look. Their eldest daughter, Violet, donned a stylish blazer dress with knee-high boots. Harper chose a floral dress paired with lug sole boots, and Ophelia wore a floaty ombré dress accessorized with a gold purse.
Most recently, Grohl and Blum attended Wimbledon in London in July 2024. They enjoyed the event from the Royal Box, surrounded by celebrities like David Beckham. This public outing highlighted their continued presence together, despite the recent personal revelations.
