Will Ferrell joins the franchise as Maxime Le Mal, a villain with a vendetta against Gru.
Ferrell, originally from California, initially rose to prominence on Saturday Night Live in the 1990s. Subsequently, he became known for iconic comedies such as Elf and Anchorman.
