The former president says he was surprised that Prince Harry received an invitation to King Charles’ Coronation, given the controversial claims made in his “horrible” book, Spare.

In a recent interview with Nigel Farage on GB News, the outspoken former president Donald Trump made headlines once again, this time taking aim at Prince Harry’s invitation to King Charles’ upcoming coronation.

Trump didn’t hold back, expressing his surprise that Harry had managed to snag an invite.

“I was actually surprised that Harry was invited, to be honest,” Trump told GB News. He went on to criticize Harry’s past remarks, stating, “He said some terrible things, when you see what he said. To me, it was horrible.”

Donald Trump was referring to Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” which reveals more about the long-standing tensions between the couple and the rest of the royals.

In January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves through the monarchy by announcing their intention to step back from their royal duties. And with “Spare” on the horizon, the public was able to get an even closer look at what really went down behind the palace walls.

Trump voiced his opinion that Meghan had shown a lack of respect towards the late Queen Elizabeth II before her and Prince Harry’s departure as senior working royals in 2020.

“I think she [Meghan] has been very disrespectful to the Queen,” he declared. “How can you be so disrespectful to the Queen? She was incredible, for decades and decades she never made a mistake. I cannot think of a mistake she made, she was never controversial.”

He added, “She went through years and decades without controversy. You cannot be disrespectful to her and I think Meghan was very disrespectful to her, very disrespectful.”

Donald Trump’s disdain for Meghan Markle is nothing new. The ex-president previously expressed his displeasure towards her during an interview with Piers Morgan in 2022, where he claimed that Markle was controlling Harry and leading him astray. Not only that, Trump also took aim at the prince himself, labeling him as “disrespectful to his country” and a source of “embarrassment.”

Back in 2020, Donald Trump became more subtle about his feelings towards Meghan Markle. Speaking to reporters, the ex-president made it clear that he was “not a fan” of the Duchess of Sussex, and even wished “a lot of luck to Harry because he’s going to need it.”

The tension between Trump and the royal couple only intensified when Markle and Prince Harry urged Americans to vote in the 2020 presidential election, with Markle calling it “the most important election of our lifetime.” It was a move that certainly didn’t sit well with Trump.

But Markle has also been vocal about her own dislike for the former president. In fact, back in 2016, during an appearance on “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,” she called Trump “divisive” and “misogynistic,” and even went so far as to say that she would move to Canada if he were to be elected.

Last month, it was announced that Prince Harry will attend his father’s coronation ceremony. However, his wife Meghan will not be joining him. Instead, she will stay back in California with their two children, celebrating Archie’s fourth birthday which coincidentally falls on the same day as the coronation.
