Gal Gadot and Alia Bhatt, in the new movie “Heart of Stone,” elevate action to unprecedented levels.
Under the direction of Tom Harper, the upcoming adventure showcases these two actresses pushing the boundaries. They’re depicted parachuting from icy cliffs, leaping out of helicopters, and engaging in intense battles thousands of feet above the ground, amidst other daring feats.
Reflecting on her cinematic journey, Gadot shared with “Good Morning America” in a late June interview, ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike, “Every time I think I’ve reached a bar with my films and the physicality, then comes the next movie.”
In the movie “Heart of Stone,” Gal Gadot undergoes a transformation into the character Rachel Stone, an unassuming computer technician who also operates undercover for a peacekeeping agency. Her mission is to thwart a hacker’s attempt to steal “The Heart,” a device hailed as “the world’s most powerful AI” by Netflix’s Tudum.
Sharing the screen with Gadot, acclaimed Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt portrays Keya Dhawan, an enigmatic hacker whose pursuit of “The Heart ” jeopardizes global stability, as described in Tudum’s synopsis.
Bhatt elaborated, saying, “She’s after the heart, which is the core of Rachel Stone’s world, and that’s what Rachel is trying to safeguard.”
Thrilling Trailer Unveiled
In the captivating trailer, Gal Gadot takes viewers on a worldwide journey as she safeguards the Heart, an enigmatic device that, according to Tudum, possesses the capability to “trace anyone’s complete online history and utilize that data to anticipate their potential future actions.” Additionally, the Heart has been engineered to “provide guidance on responding to potential global dangers.”
Amid the high stakes, Rachel is determined to prevent the Heart from falling into the wrong hands, even if it entails engaging in aerial combat or battling from moving vehicles alongside Keya.
Gadot revealed that preparing for “Heart of Stone” involved months of intensive training, including collaborating with professional stunt teams.
“Coming into it, it was clear this was going to be an action-packed movie,” Gadot shared. “You have to train months and months beforehand to make sure you’re fit and strong enough to do all the stuff we needed to do.”
Alia Bhatt, for whom “Heart of Stone” marked her inaugural foray into action films, was pregnant during the filming period.
Reflecting on that time, Bhatt mused, “I was enjoying to be able to say that, ‘Oh, I’m doing my first action movie pregnant.'” She went on to mention that although visual effects played a role in crafting suspenseful sequences on screen, the majority of the action-packed scenes were executed during filming.
“The actual execution happens at that moment,” she explained. “So, the preparation of course, with a certain amount of agility, training, wire work.”
“Heart of Stone” will be available to stream on Netflix on Aug. 11.
