Gary Busey is no stranger to legal trouble. His latest? Involvement in a hit-and-run accident.
The Accident
The alleged accident occurred on Wednesday. A woman was driving down California’s PCH highway when Busey sped out of a shopping center and hit her rear bumper. Rather than stop to provide his information and see how she was doing, he sped off.
The Chase
The woman wasn’t giving up. She chased after Busey. She followed him down the PCH while simultaneously filming the incident. You can hear her screaming at him to make him aware that he hit her rear bumper, but he continued driving.
She Tracks Him Down
The woman finally tracked Busey down in a shopping center outside a restaurant. She asked him to stay put and provide his information. Busey snidely responded, “I’m private.”
But he was kind enough to tell her that he was covered by Progressive. He then drove away as the woman continued screaming at him.
Unfortunately, she does not have any footage of the accident. But Busey’s reaction, the chase scene, and the damage on both vehicles may be enough to get her justice.
Law enforcement told the media that the woman filed a hit-and-run report. Detectives will be investigating. Leaving the scene of an accident that results in property damage is a crime.
Gary Busey is No Stranger to the Law
This is not the first time Busey has found himself in hot water with the law. He faced sex crime charges in 2022 after authorities responded to reports of a sexual offense at Monster-Mania Con in Cherry Hill, PA.
The 79-year-old was scheduled to be a featured guest at the event. He was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment. No further details were provided. The investigation is ongoing.
Difficult Life
Legal issues aside, Busey has always been known as a Hollywood bad boy. Back in the day, he and close friend Nick Nolte were considered the hardest partying pair in Hollywood. They were known for using cocaine and other drugs.
In 1988, the celebrity got into a motorcycle accident and suffered a subdural hematoma which can cause brain damage. He spent months relearning how to walk and talk. Since then, he has been known to engage in erratic behavior.
His disruptive behavior during his 2011 appearance on Celebrity Apprentice caused him to spar with Meat Loaf and other teammates. He was eventually fired from the show for poor leadership on a campaign.
Busey was featured in most of his notable roles between the mid-1970s and late 1990s. He starred in The Buddy Holly Story, A Star is Born, Lethal Weapon, The Firm, and Lost Highway. Most of his recent appearances include voiceovers, reality show appearances, and spokesperson gigs.
