It’s the most fabulous fashion event of the year and we’re here for it! This year’s Karl Lagerfeld theme brought out our favorite celebrities’ best looks on the “red” carpet.
Here are some of the looks that inevitably caught everyone’s eye!
Anne Hathaway
Everyone loves Anne Hathaway’s ensemble in this year’s MET and for good reason! She wore a Versace gown with the classic safety pins and the high slit but in tweed, Kar Lagerfeld’s signature Chanel fabric. It’s a tribute to the late designer that we’re all here for! She wore a dress that made everyone imagine what Karl Lagerfeld’s design with Versace would have looked like.
Dua Lipa
As one of the co-chairs of the MET Gala 2023, Dua Lipa couldn’t come unprepared. She rocked the red carpet in her vintage Chanel ball gown that perfectly paid tribute to the brand’s history. She also donned a BIG Tiffany and Co. necklace that transported everyone to the past.
Doja Cat
The singer interpreted this year’s theme in a fantastic way. True to her name, Doja Cat showed up in an Oscar de la Renta literal cat look. Her outfit is a clear tribute to the late designer’s beloved feline named Choupette.
Elle Fanning
Elle’s ensemble came with a sentimental story. She said that Karl Lagerfeld once shot photos of her in a white dress with a black Chanel jacket and he placed a daisy crown on her head. So as a tribute to that moment with the designer, she wore a lace white dress by Vivienne Westwood with a black bolero and yes, a crown of daisies! And we are living for it!
Jared Leto
As someone who had the privilege to play Karl Lagerfeld in a film, Jared Leto definitely turned heads pun intended in his cat cosplay. Like Doja Cat, the actor paid homage to Choupette, who was dearly cherished by Lagerfeld.
