CNN anchor Don Lemon is in hot water after a hot mic picked him up referring to Job Stewart as just a comedian.
Don was broadcasting when he threw up a clip of Stewart interviewing U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks. Stewart challenged the “extreme waste” in the DOD’s $850 billion budget.
When Hicks became defensive, Jon shot back saying, “I can’t figure out how $850 billion to a department means that the rank and file still have to be on food stamps. To me, that’s f**king corruption.”
There was a point when the video stayed up but the audio cut left Lemon’s mic hot. During that time, you could hear the anchor saying, “He gets a lot of leeway with the comedian thing, though.” He seemed to be talking to his co-anchors.
After a few minutes of silence, Lemon tried to backtrack saying that Stewart is so much more than a comedian. He repeated that twice perhaps after discovering his mic was life.
Stewart has passionately fought for the rank-and-file military. He is regarded as the singular force for pressuring Congress into passing a law extending health care coverage for vets exposed to burn pits. Most would argue that he is much more than a comedian.
