Sofia Vergara has legally responded to Joe Manganiello’s divorce filing, nearly two weeks after he officially initiated the process. The couple, who were married for seven years, are now moving forward with the legal proceedings.
According to court documents obtained by People, the 51-year-old actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. She is requesting the court to uphold the prenuptial agreement that was established during their wedding, which safeguards her personal assets, including jewelry and artwork, as well as all earnings accumulated before and during their marriage.
Furthermore, as per court documents acquired by Entertainment Tonight, the America’s Got Talent judge is seeking an equitable division of community property in accordance with the prenuptial agreement.
The date of their separation is noted as July 2, and both Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello will be responsible for covering their respective lawyer fees.
The Magic Mike star, 46, included comparable conditions in his divorce filing on July 19.
The response comes several weeks after the former couple made a joint announcement about their separation.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

The exact reason behind their separation remains unclear, but insights from sources close to the couple shed light on the high-profile split. According to insiders, a significant point of contention between Joe and Sofia was the matter of having a childless marriage, with Joe seeing it as an issue while Sofia did not share the same concern.

According to yet another source who spoke with ET, the reason behind the split is that Vergara and Manganiello have intentionally been spending time apart to focus on themselves, their respective careers, and their close relationships.
