While it may have been canceled, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk is not over just yet.
In 2018, the beloved Girls Trip star spilled the beans about her plans to host an intergenerational talk show on Facebook Watch with her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris and daughter Willow.
This groundbreaking series was set to tackle topics like sex, parenting, relationships, body image, fashion, and beauty secrets, and promised to be a must-watch.
For five incredible seasons, “Red Table Talk” never ceased to amaze audiences with its jaw-dropping moments.
From Jada Pinkett Smith’s candid conversation about her “entanglement” with singer August Alsina to Jordyn Woods revealing all about the Tristan Thompson kiss scandal, and Olivia Jade’s intense exchange with Banfield-Norris, the show kept viewers glued to their screens.
And who can forget the Smith family’s reactions to the infamous Oscar slap? “I never anticipated the kind of response and success that ‘Red Table Talk’ has garnered, but it’s the part of my career that I’m most passionate about,” Pinkett Smith admitted to Fast Company.
Sadly, after 129 episodes and countless viral moments, Meta (previously Facebook) announced the cancellation of the show on April 26th.
Facebook Watch Pulls the Plug on Red Table Talk, But it’s Not Really Over
Pop culture fans were left heartbroken on April 26th after Meta announced the cancellation of its popular Facebook Watch show, “Red Table Talk.”
The reason behind the decision was the dismantling of Facebook Watch’s entire team and the departure of Mina Lefevre, the Head of Development and Programming. However, the plot thickens as insiders reveal that Meta plans to focus on virtual reality content, as hinted by the company’s founder Mark Zuckerberg earlier this year.
But there’s hope yet – the show’s producer, Westbrook Media, is on the hunt for a new network to give “Red Table Talk” a second chance.
Jada Pinkett Smith responded to the show’s cancellation with a hopeful message on Instagram. She expressed her gratitude for the wonderful partnership with Facebook Watch and extended her best wishes to the team’s future endeavors.
Jada’s statement also gave fans a glimmer of hope since she confirmed that the show’s producer is in talks with other networks to give “Red Table Talk” a new home. She ended the message by promising fans that the show will be back soon, so all is not lost!
