Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday
Bronny James, the eldest son of basketball star LeBron James and his wife Savannah James, suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session at the University of Southern California on Monday. He is currently in stable condition.
The family’s spokesperson confirmed the incident and shared that Bronny, 18, received prompt medical attention and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
In a statement, the spokesperson said, “Yesterday during practice, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the swift response of the medical staff, he was taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition, no longer in ICU.”
LeBron and his wife Savannah expressed their gratitude to the University of Southern California medical staff and athletic staff for ensuring the safety of their athletes.
TMZ reported that as of Wednesday, LeBron and Savannah were relieved that their son was out of danger and were maintaining close communication with the doctors overseeing Bronny’s care. Although he spent a brief period in the ICU, their fears have been somewhat alleviated. However, further tests are required to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart fails to pump blood adequately to the brain and other organs, and one common cause, particularly in adults, is an abnormal heart rhythm.
