Garrett Josemans and Taylor Krause, stars of Love Is Blind, recently opened up about their first impressions of each other when they met face-to-face.
The couple, who married after getting engaged without seeing one another, appeared on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast to reflect on their journey. One year after their wedding, they shared the unexpected truth about their initial reactions when they first saw each other.
During the interview, hosts Brandi and Tish Cyrus asked if they had any confessions from their Netflix’s Love Is Blind experience. Taylor was the first to admit that their attraction was not instant. “Garrett and I weren’t initially really attracted to each other,” she confessed. Garrett quickly clarified, saying, “Hold on, hold on. Initially, as in at the reveal.”
When they met for the first time, Garrett explained, it was far more intense than viewers may have realized.
He compared the moment to a “shocking” experience. “It’s supposed to be this beautiful, wonderful thing — but it’s shocking,” he said. “It’s like lightning striking you for 20 minutes.” The overwhelming emotions made him feel disoriented, and he recalled walking out of the reveal “forgetting what she looked like.”
Taylor agreed with Garrett’s description, saying it was hard to process everything at once. “Your brain just explodes,” she said. She admitted that the experience left her feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to react. “It’s dead silent, there are like 70 cameras, and you’re just thinking, ‘Okay, we’re going to kiss right now.’” The combination of nerves and emotion made it difficult to take in the full picture of what was happening.
Both Garrett and Taylor also described the emotional exhaustion they felt after the big reveal. Garrett shared that his heart was racing, and he felt physically drained. “You can hear your heart pounding, and you’re just emotionally spent,” he said. Although the moment was intense, they continued their journey and returned to the pods to gather themselves.
Later, during a cast trip to Cabo, Garrett opened up to the other guys about his feelings. He admitted that, at that point, he wasn’t sure if he was “into her” yet. “You get to Cabo and meet up with the cast at the first party,” Garrett recalled. “Ramses [Prashad] and Tyler [Francis] were like, ‘You were tripping, bro,’ and I’m like, ‘I know, I’m tripping. I don’t know what happened.’”
However, after spending more time together, Garrett and Taylor’s connection grew stronger.
Reflecting on their early interactions, Taylor joked about their first kiss. She said it helped her realize that there was definitely some attraction between them. “I was like, ‘Less words, less words, [let me] make out with you,’” she laughed. “They should really have the staff chanting: ‘Kiss, kiss, kiss.’” While the moment was playful, it signified their growing chemistry.
Earlier in the conversation, Taylor shared that Garrett wasn’t exactly her usual “type” when it came to appearance.
She admitted she typically dated blond guys, a fact her mother pointed out when she first met Garrett. “That’s why my mom was like, ‘He’s not your type,’” Taylor said. But as she got to know Garrett, she realized that his personality was exactly what she was looking for in a partner. “When you talk to him, he is very intelligent, kind, and respectful — that’s more who I go for,” she explained.
In the end, their journey on Love Is Blind proved that love isn’t always about instant physical attraction. While Garrett and Taylor didn’t feel an immediate spark, their connection grew over time. Their story demonstrates that love is about more than appearances; it’s about shared values, mutual respect, and building a deep bond with one another.
