A man can’t imagine his bad luck after eating a crisp that was worth over $120,000.
26-year-old Cory of Cardiff, Wales was eating a bag of Walkers cheese and onion crisps when he found a heart-shaped crisp and ate it before realizing how much it was worth.
The content creator posts on TikTok as @corysworld and shared a clip of himself eating the crisp as part of his ‘What I eat in a day series.”
Unknown to him, the Walkers company was offering 100,000 pounds (over $120,000 USD) to one lucky customer who found the best heart-shaped crisp in their packets.
Viewers pointed out the mistake he had made, but it was too little too late.
“It actually took me around six days to realize what I’d done. That crisp could have changed our lives,” Cory said.
“We saw the crisp so we screenshotted it, cropped it, and flipped it around.- and low and behold it was the heart-shaped crisp. At the time, my girlfriend had a packet of Walkers with her, so we did a comparison and that’s when it hit me that I’d just eaten the 100K prize.”
“We were both so shocked and burst into laughter, then Lea phoned her dad to explain, and he didn’t believe that I’d done it. Most people had the same reaction and didn’t believe me until I showed them the video and then they all burst into laughter.
“My family said that you couldn’t write it and that it was so typical of me. This could definitely only happen to me.”
Fortunately, Cory is in good spirits over what happened.
“I wasn’t angry or anything like that, just so shocked. I can’t believe it happened and that I even caught it on camera. I told people at work, and they said they didn’t believe me either until I showed them the video. It’s a good job I do my ‘what I eat in a day’ videos so I could prove it,” he said.
Cory noted that if he had won the money he would have “probably gone on holiday, maybe renovated my house, and definitely donated some to charity,” be he’s glad everyone “got a good laugh out of it too.”
Cory found the chip. And he has proof of it on film. So, is there any way he can win the money? “Fraid not as a Walkers spokesman stated.
“Such a shame that Cory has eaten that crisp! We do need to be fair to all the other Walker fans that have followed our competition T&Cs and held onto their crisp for safekeeping, so I’m afraid we won’t be able to accept his entry this time round.”
“There’s still time if he wants to enter.”
