Megan the Stallion has been on the DL since Tory Lanez received a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of shooting her in the foot. But she stepped out in a big way on Saturday. Was her revealing see-through jumpsuit a statement about her state of mind?
Megan’s Outing
Megan was spotted out in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. She wore a sheer jumpsuit with a geometric print.
At first glance, it looked like the rapper was wearing nothing underneath the outfit. But on closer inspection, you could see she wore pasties on her nipples and skin-toned panties.
She was accompanied by a female friend. She posed for the camera before hopping into a waiting SUV.
Laying Low
Megan has been lying low since the incident. She did not appear at Lanez’s hearing. However, she made a related statement. She claimed she still suffers trauma from the shooting. She urged the judge to hand down a stiff punishment.
She also performed at Outside Lands in San Francisco shortly after the sentencing. “F*** all my haters,” she said during the show. This remark was the closest she came to making a direct statement about the incident.
The Shooting
Rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan in the foot in July of 2020. The incident occurred when the couple left a party at Kylie Jenner’s home. Megan was hospitalized and had to undergo surgery to treat her injuries.
The two had been arguing in a van when Lanez fired the gun. He was found guilty of assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and negligent discharge of a gun.
Megan and Lanez were dating when the incident occurred. Lanez described her in court as “someone I still care for dearly to this day.”
A Middling Sentence
The maximum sentence for the crimes Lanez was convicted of is 22 years and 8 months in prison. New California law meant to promote criminal justice reform urges middle-length sentences unless aggravated circumstances exist.
Lanez was not punished to the full extent of the law. But his sentence was still considerable. Prosecutors accused him of launching “a campaign to humiliate and re-traumatize the victim” and using “weaponized misinformation” to turn the public against Megan.
Lanez released an album with lyrics denying he had shot Megan and asserting he had been framed. His negativity caused other artists to gang up on the female rapper. One of Drake’s songs implies Megan lied about the shooting.
Some cite the incident’s tie-ins with misogyny in the music industry.
Scared to Move Forward
After the shooting, Megan told the police she had stepped on broken glass. She later stated that her fear of Lanez and the police prevented her from telling the truth. “I don’t feel safe in the car. I don’t feel safe with the police,” she stated.
She also testified that Lanez offered her and her friend, who was also in the van during the shooting, $1 million to keep quiet about the incident.
