Miley Cyrus recently unveiled the intriguing backstory behind her 2014 Bangerz Tour, shedding light on why it didn’t yield any financial gains—and why she’s perfectly content with that outcome.

In her ongoing “Used To Be Young” TikTok series, the 30-year-old pop sensation disclosed on September 4th, “The Bangerz Tour was an investment in myself.” She explained that many of her creative concepts for the tour were so unconventional that they lacked financial backing from others. This led to extravagant features like enormous puppets, oversized beds, and a memorable entrance where she emerged from a massive tongue-shaped slide featuring her own face.

Despite the tour’s extravagance, Miley admitted, “I didn’t make a dime on this tour because I wanted the tour to be excellent.” When confronted about her motivations for staging such an extravagant and financially unrewarding tour, she responded, “There’s no one I would rather invest in than myself. So I paid for it all, to make it exactly what I thought I and the fans deserved.”

Miley further explained that the tour’s concept stemmed from her collaboration with creative director Diane Martel. Diane encouraged the “Wrecking Ball” singer to contemplate how she wanted to conclude each concert, resulting in a memorable exit on a giant hot dog and a nod to the movie “The Truman Show,” which Miley felt mirrored her life.

In her ongoing “Used To Be Young” series, named after her latest single, Miley has been reflecting on various pivotal moments in her life. Recently, she reminisced about the start of her decade-long relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth while filming “The Last Song.” She emphasized the undeniable chemistry that sparked between them in real-time.

Miley added, “I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real time and real life.”
