Sam Asghari Opens Up About Divorce from Britney Spears

In the wake of his legal separation from renowned singer Britney Spears, Sam Asghari, popularly known for his role in the Family Business series, has chosen to share his thoughts on their recent split.

Merely a day after filing the necessary documents to initiate their divorce following a 14-month marriage, Sam Asghari has broken his silence concerning their separation.

Taking to his Instagram Story on August 17th, Sam expressed, “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always.”

He further added, “S–t happens. Asking for privacy seems rediculous [sic] so I will just ask for everyone including the media to be kind and thoughtful.”

In contrast, Britney Spears has yet to make any public comments about the dissolution of their marriage.

A source well-versed in the matter confirmed the separation to NBC News on August 16th, emphasizing that the decision is in the best interest of Britney Spears.

Sam officially initiated the divorce proceedings shortly after news of the breakup started circulating on August 16th. According to a filing acquired by E! News, he cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for their split. In the legal documents, the 29-year-old actor also requested spousal support and coverage for legal expenses from the singer. However, he noted that he has not yet comprehensively assessed the extent of the separate property and obligations held by each party.

Britney and Sam’s marriage, which occurred in June 2022 amid a star-studded event, marked the culmination of nearly six years of courtship. A source close to the couple shared that during the ceremony, the “Gimme More” artist was visibly emotional, with Sam tenderly “wiping her tears away lovingly.”

A day following the wedding, Britney herself expressed her feelings on Instagram, revealing her initial nervousness that even led to a panic attack, but she managed to compose herself. Her post read, “The ceremony was a dream and the party was even better.” However, this post has since been deleted.

Interestingly, their separation comes just over two months after celebrating their wedding anniversary. Sam commemorated the occasion by sharing a video montage of their ceremony, featuring the song “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which also played when Britney walked down the aisle on their special day.

“Happy 1 Year to me & my better half,” Sam conveyed on a June 2023 Instagram Story post, showcasing their wedding bands. He further expressed, “One year married to the woman of my dreams. Happy anniversary my Love.”
