Tennis superstar, Serena Williams, is expecting her second child with her husband Alexis Ohanian. The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, are also parents to their daughter, Olympia, who will be turning 6 in September.

Serena Williams, the legendary pro tennis player, is ready to welcome a new member to her beautiful family!

The 41-year-old pro athlete and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, are expecting their second child. The couple exchanged vows in November 2017 and are already proud parents to their charming 5-year-old daughter, Olympia.

Making the announcement on her Instagram account, Williams shared a series of stunning photos with her husband, including one where she is proudly displaying her growing baby bump. The post was a two-in-one surprise since it also revealed that the couple had received an invitation to the coveted Met Gala.

“Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” she wrote.

Last year, Serena Williams opened up about her aspirations to expand her family and transition away from tennis in a touching first-person essay for Vogue.

Serena Williams revealed that she once never thought about having kids when she first began her career. In a recent essay, she reflected on how she was uncertain about bringing children into a world that’s full of problems. Despite her initial reservations, Williams is now a proud mother of a 5-year-old daughter named Olympia, whom she is incredibly hands-on with.

In the essay, Williams revealed that she used to feel uncomfortable around children and thought that if she ever had a baby, she would have someone else take care of it 24/7. However, with the love and support of her husband and family, Williams has embraced motherhood and all that comes with it.

“There were times when I’ve wondered if I should ever bring kids into this world, with all its problems. I was never that confident or comfortable around babies or children, and I figured that if I ever did have a baby, I would have people taking care of it 24/7,” she narrated.

Williams prioritizes spending time with her daughter, going as far as picking her up from school four to five days a week. To her, nothing is a sacrifice when it comes to Olympia, and it’s evident in the way she talks about her daughter with pride and joy.

The tennis champion, faced a challenging birth experience when she welcomed her first child. She had to undergo an emergency cesarean section, which was followed by a series of life-threatening complications.

A coughing fit resulted in her wound reopening, revealing multiple blood clots in her body that required immediate medical attention.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Williams shared how lucky she felt to be alive after the ordeal. However, her recovery was far from easy since she spent six weeks in bed while trying to adapt to motherhood.

For someone who has always pushed her body to the limit, this was an entirely different experience. Williams said that she felt powerless and had to accept that her body was in control, which was an incredibly difficult realization.
