Snoop Dogg became emotional during Monday’s episode of The Voice when it was time to choose which of his team members would stay and which would go home.
On Nov. 18, the rapper had to make a tough decision in the Knockout rounds. His team included ChrisDeo, Mikaela Ayira, and Torre Blake, all of whom had given it their all during their performances. As the trio finished, Snoop found himself struggling with the outcome.
“I didn’t think I was gonna get this emotional,” Snoop Dogg, 53, admitted, tears welling up in his eyes. “I love these three girls. Ya’ll made me proud.” He paused, clearly torn by the decision. “I’m so torn right now because I can’t take all of ya’ll with me. I’m hurt. And I’m supposed to be strong right now. I’m supposed to make ya’ll strong. But this is how you affected me. I love each and every one of you.”
Snoop’s words came from the heart, as he compared the situation to sending off his own daughters. “It feels like I’m sending my own daughters off to college,” he said. “One of ya’ll gets to stay home, and the other two go. It’s tough.” He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and added, “The gangster holy ghost don’t ever let me down,” before making his final decision.
With that, he revealed that Mikaela Ayira was the winner of the knockout. “Ladies, I love all three of you,” Snoop continued. “I’m so honored to have been your coach. I’ve learned so much from you, and I hope I’ve given you something that will stay with you forever.”
In a one-on-one interview following the announcement, Snoop explained why he chose Mikaela. “Mikaela’s voice is big, and she doesn’t even know how to fully use it yet,” he said. “With the right song and the right production, I think she could win this whole competition.”
This emotional moment on The Voice wasn’t the only surprise of the night.
During the episode, viewers learned that Mor Ilderton, a contestant from Team Gwen, would no longer be part of the competition. The reason for Mor’s departure remains unclear, adding to the drama of the evening.
The episode demonstrated the tough decisions that the coaches face as they guide their contestants through the Knockout rounds. For Snoop, this was a particularly emotional moment. He had built strong bonds with his team, and sending any of them home was clearly difficult. Yet, despite the pain of the decision, Snoop remained a supportive coach, assuring the contestants that their journeys were far from over.
The Voice continues to air Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, with episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock. Fans of the show can tune in to see how the remaining contestants fare in the upcoming rounds and how Snoop and the other coaches continue to guide their teams through the competition.
